Meditation in Everyday Life
This class has evolved over the past two years because of the enthusiastic participation of groups of women who wanted to learn to meditate. It has delighted me, as we have shared this meaningful journey of ancient wisdom, relaxation and psychological savvy together.
My format has been to blend the best practices possible from the fields of science, psychology and spirituality. We meet for 6 consecutive sessions. Each one and a half hour session is designed to delve into practical knowledge about conscious awareness, “presence,” and how to bring this energy into everyday life. We study various forms of meditation together: mindfulness meditation; three centers of the body and the messages of the heart, solar plexus, and belly; mantra meditation. We have studied the Four Agreements and the importance of how we use language as a positive support in our lives. We have explored the enneagram as a map for understanding our basic worldview as we engage in life and relationships.
The spirit of the groups has been lively, thoughtful, and challenging as we leave some of our existing ideas for new ones. Each group ends with a meditation practice that leaves everyone more centered and calm. Both groups have gone for longer than 6 sessions because of the benefits received.
We all have busy lives. It is not easy to carve out time for meditation! That is why learning to meditate together ensures a place to welcome this retreat from the pressures of daily demands.
It has been special to have an “organizer” who selects the women who participate in the meditation group. This has added to the resonance of the groups. I highly recommend this format. Equally, each woman needs to sense if this is the right moment to explore meditation. Knowing, “I want to do this” is more important than believing you know what you are getting into!
This video shows the benefits that second graders received when I taught them to meditate. The two woman who speak on the video were both in my meditation groups. We hope to bring younger children to this practice. A blessing to share the power of meditation!

Pam Benison is an exceptional professional with empathy, clarity and wisdom. I attended an organization gathering where she spoke on the 5 Love Languages. She has a warm, engaging presence and stays on point with a highly organized message.
Her presentation was motivating and thought provoking.
I enthusiastically recommend Pam as a personal therapist or as a presenter in a group setting.
